This retreat focuses on two core themes of somatic bodywork: the hip flexor (Iliopsoas), often referred to as the ‘muscle of the soul’, and the vagus nerve, commonly known as the ‘self-healing nerve’.

Not only because we are a sedentary society, but also because a great deal of stress and unprocessed trauma is stored in the hip flexor, it is often in a state of constant tension. As long as there is no pain issue (yet), that often goes unnoticed. One feels emotionally tense, insecure and trapped in the rat race, and there is a vague feeling that the threat must lie outside of oneself. Yet it is the vagus nerve that signals to the brain: something is wrong here! And so a confusing stress cycle arises, from which it is not easy to escape.

The good news: devoting a few days to the hip flexor and the deep structures associated with it is pure bliss. It doesn’t want to be ‘trained’, it doesn’t want to be ‘stretched’ – it simply wants its freedom, its expression, its fluidity back! It wants to breathe joy! And that is what we give it, with utmost dedication, very slow pace, and melting/gentle yet profound body/soulwork. You will leave this retreat feeling more open, with effortless inner and outer alignment, a freer breath, more connected to yourself and with a freshly tuned antenna for the world out there.

And perhaps, just perhaps, you might get a sense of what it means to bathe in primordial trust.
